RADIO PLAYS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO ACT

Here is a group of eleven plays designed for such occasions as Education Week, Veterans' Day, Christmas, World Children's Day, etc. In each case, there is some valuable teaching pertaining to brotherhood, peace or good citizenship, an introductory list of necessary sound effects, and a concluding pronunciation key. An opening preface to the cast and another to the director imparts sound advice and time-tested rules on staging these plays. There is enough leeway for adaptability by a flexible director, thus a play about New York City can change its locale and a suggested occasion can be interchanged for another. Children from 11 to 15 are capable of performing these and teachers in search of assembly programs should glean some workable suggestions from this collection.
