THE DOUBLE TAKE

California crime centered again, as private eye, Balley, is called on to trace the background of a client's wife and trails down doublecrosses, two murders, and a full quota of false leads. He gets a tough workout in the old knockout school, in tangling with boys that want to play rough -- and for keeps, is hampered by three glamour girls, and keeps the police ignorant until he needs them for the payoff. A smartspoken oughie, almost too complicated.
