GRIM REHEARSAL

Uncle Doc hadn't an enemy in the world, and his foster son, Pierce Kirby, thought he was giving him a treat in New York, never dreaming it would end in murder. When a chorus girl disappeared -- and Drake, a playboy, was suspected of abducting, and then killing her, and doing a disappearance himself, -- the link between the incidents was tenuous but possible, so Pierce horned in on the investigation which trailed false clues in and around New York, before a body was washed up on Long Island shore -- the chorus girl was found alive and ready to talk -- and a lawyer on the make was proved partner in crime. Complicated- and not completely resolved- but good reading.
