WHAT HAPPENED TO VIRGILIA

All that happened to Virgilia during the year she spends with her Aunt Emma in Rockport, Massachusetts features a very different way of life, from giving a play (Little Women) to a Boiled Dinner at the parish house on to some more adventurous experiences: there's a brush with some local swindlers; a storm; her investigation of room; and best of all, the local waxworks exhibit she stages in a barn to raise money for a horse for the best friend she acquires. Plumb plain New England touches for an unsophisticated little girl's story.
