WESTCHESTER BULL

In time the savage Bull doth bear the yoke""--the Biblical epigraph is only too well fulfilled in this story of gridiron grit which features a kosher halfback from Brooklyn called Ace. Despite some impressive collegiate heroics at Minnesota where he personally bowled over undefeated Ohio State, the gutsy All-American jock is totally excluded from the NFL draft. Is it because he's too slow with his 5.1 speed? In any event, the Giants semi-pro farm team, the Westchester Bulls, is what he has to settle for--that and a coach who riles him, dubs him the ""Yid Kid,"" and leaves him on the bench. Chuck in an uncle who's a Lower East Side fence and a ""whacko"" mother, and you won't wonder why Ace is an underdog all the way. Or care much either.
