Another story by the author-illustrator of Rufus the Fox. The tale of how Brown Bear escaped time and time again from the villagers and Renard the Fox, with all ending happily when two of the village children treat him as a friend instead of chasing him, would be better if the manner of telling, in choppy prose that rhymes, were less sophisticated and elliptic. The blackness of the type and its varying sizes add to the impression of confusion. Difficult to read. Pleasant pictures. Boards.
