CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, MARINER

A rewriting of Admiral of the Ocean Sea (1942) deletes some of the very scholarly material and makes the flow of events take over and the whole record of Columbus stand out as a superb maritime adventure. There is much revealing new detail as the story goes back to childhood in Genoa and on to the various aspects of the voyages themselves. Morison writes dramatically and authoritatively. Good reading.
