Unrelieved moral and political turpitude, in this story of the planned seizure of civic control in a Southern state. A particularly repulsive journalist sells out to the gang, conniving at a coup d'etat through the fanning of race hatred; he does away with his editor when exposure is threatened, and manoeuvers the removal of others who might interfere, and gives free rein to the gang to take over another city and to scheme for the state. But a wilier politician is too smart for him. An unsavory bit -- a ""war of nerves"" on our own front -- rank repulsiveness for strong stomachs only. And why?
