CHINKY, THE BANKER PONY

Excellent -- good content close to child's universal interest in story based on little known facts of annual pony round-up at Chincoteague Island off the Virginia coast. The children go with their uncle and help choose the pony they want, take him home and the details of his training are given. The vocabulary is uneven, but the interest of the story will carry the more difficult words. There may be some criticism of the ethics of small Peter starting a paper delivery route at too early an age, but I don't believe this will hurt the book.
