BEATING WINGS

Again the Southern Methodist circuit for a story of personal problems and religious values as Paul Blanchard in his first year as a young minister faces tragedy in his own life as well as in those of his parishioners. For Paul has married a German girl, Marta, the victim of war atrocities, and Marta's many fears make her incapable of any contacts in the community and resentful of the work which separates them. An old friend, a psychiatrist, is the first to recognize the symptoms of imbalance, and with her complete crack-up, takes her to an institution. Her return home is only a therapeutic hope- and her death completes his probationary, personal experience.... A regenerative story in common terms- but not distinguished beyond the rental level.
