Stephen Holt's dream is to have his son join him in his Boston investment firm and carry on the old tradition; Graham's dream, however, is to write, and a girl- glimpsed on the beach at Belleport (Cape Cod) becomes the Loretta of the novel a publisher is ready to accept- until a first chapter unfortunately duplicates a book on their list by a prominent author; Millicent Dexter, his father's secretary, has lost her dream- he was killed in the war; and for the reader there will not be a rude awakening to learn that Graham joins his father, falls in love with Millicent, and knows that some day he can writer another book. Adeste fidelis.
