I MARRIED A BEST SELLER

Can't think why she did. By her own reckoning, Arthur Hailey is selfish, compulsive, unfaithful, an unconcerned father (didn't bother to hang around for the births of any of his three children), a jealous husband (she's as frank about her indiscretions as he is), and overweight. By our reckoning, if he were a real writer some of this might have been worth it. Unless 20 years of marriage to a boor is a fair trade for this book contract and a house in the Bahamas. The publishers. say they've booked Mrs. Hailey for a national promotion tour. Maybe that's why she wrote it: she wanted to get away. Let the poor woman travel. But don't bother to leave the house for this one.
