They're about the pill-freakiest pair of Oklahoma City private eyes you'll ever hope to meet--to wit, Demerol-popping Steve Cranmer with his bum knee, and Butch Maneri, his young skirt-chasing sidekick afflicted with gastritis. Perhaps that's just what the doctor ordered for the fishy suicide they're hired to investigate happens to be the work of professional ""accident man"" Richard Straight, a one-time NYPD dectective who likes Camus and Tschaikovsky and goes under the name of Oscar Spinoza. A good and gamy first novel with lots of offbeat action.
