Another of those naughty companion-devils. . . and like Greenfield's Neesie (p. 910, J-292) this hairy, pointy-eared imp is very, very real--taking over Nana's bed, starting a pillow fight, hanging Papa's socks in the refrigerator and dressing the dog in cousin Joey's clothes. And here again it's not so much the imaginary troublemaker as the ethnically identifiable family that one responds to--dark-eyed Nana, Papa grumbling ""If you don't go to sleep fight now I'll give you something that can be seen,"" and especially Grandma who believes in Nana's problem (""These demons. They come and go"") and who even suggests trying to catch him in a bottle. You've met this havoc-wreaking alter ego before, but his puckish pranks set against Jeschke's knowingly homey, soft-pencil backgrounds convince you to give him his due once again.
