The resilient breed that tends, preserves, studies the wild animals of Africa, particularly in Kenya, has become remarkably garrulous recently, by way of print, photo and film, and here is another chatty chronicle of beasts-I-have-known by one of a brace of vets. With her husband Toni Harthoorn, an enthusiast of radio-telemetry, Sue Hart bases her activities in Kenya where the pair conducted experiments, taught and prepared animals for films, and where Sue hosted a series of educational children's TV programs. They visited the Adamsons, repairing a cheetah leg for Joy and operating on the eye of one of George's lions. There are adventures with rhinos, elephants, a lovable giraffe and for Sue there are the frustrations but pleasures of film work. When a frantic film director explodes, ""Four weeks to go and no rhino,"" the rhino is found and is outfitted in a ""falsie"" horn when he knocks the real thing off in a rage. Treks, tranquillized animals, medicine, meanderings and many Hart-beasts. A busy preserve for animal lovers.
