PEDRO AND THE BANANAS

Syd Hoff's button-faced cartoon characters are here transported to an ""island in the sun"" where the business is bananas. Though Pedro seems too young to help his parents, when the mule gets sick he organizes a brigade of monkeys to convey the produce to the harbor. Monkeys and bananas are a natural combination of course, but the warmth generated by Hoff's flat, bichromatic sketches is definitely sub-tropical.
