MOUNTAIN BOY

Randy, 7, had real knowledge of all outdoors but he could not -- and would not -- learn to read or write. His mother was patient, for they lived in the hille with no school, but all her efforts failed until she told him a story about their mule Jinny. And Randy, who was the hero of her story, found out that he changed ""can't"" to ""could"", which he proceeded to do in real life. A full sense of outdoor lore, southern mountain life, for a real-life type of story for the older ages in this group.
