We first heard of this story in True Comics and what a good one it is! Thanks to Longmans for presenting it in book form! Winkie was an untried pigeon who was put in the R.A.F. plane with young Tommy's father. Due to his unerring homing instinct, rescuers were sent out when the plane was shot down in the North Sea.
