THE FOLKLORE OF CAPITALISM

The problem in selling this book is that the people who would get the most out of it wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole -- and the others don't need it (though I doubt whether anyone could read it carefully without finding some pet prejudices jarred or pet convictions overturned). The author examines today's creed of capitalism and standpatism and conservatism, and shakes its very portals through gentle and subtle ridicule, clever airing of bare bones of fact, and sound exposition. Watch to see what sort of launching it gets. Curiosity may stimulate latent indifference, and it is controversial.
