O'Sullivan puts faces and pictures to Hardy's novels and poems, most especially Wessex Poems. The north Cornish coast where Hardy courted his wife, Shadwater Vale where Eustacia Vye was drowned, and many, many crumbling churchyards are shown, some in color, some sketched by Hardy as graphic aides to his literary settings.
