INCIDENT AT SUN MOUNTAIN

The preamble to the Civil War when Ken English, unjustly cashiered out of the my, is sent by Seward as his personal representative to investigate secessionist sentiment on the Comstock Lode, and the potential seizure of the mines at Sun Mountain. Suspected, seized and brutalized by a man misguided by the promise of a power and his gang toughs, English is saved by a politico's insurgent daughter and is able to checkmate a situation when war is declared. Stout stuff.
