Their chimney blows down two days before Christmas: ""Oh, NO! How will Santa get in?"" The Mouse parents rig up a brick-painted cardboard chimney, then forget and light a fire: ""I smell cardboard burning! Oh, no, the chimney!"" Then Mother Mouse's sticky Christmas candle boils over--all over--and Santa comes gashing down on the mess, knocking into the Mouse family's dry old Christmas tree and sticking himself up with pine needles, so that he's later taken for a porcupine. That's not all--the Mouses' living room is filled with snow that falls down the chimney before their ""terribly nice Christmas"" is over--but it's more dumb disasters than anyone will want to put up with.
