BENJAMIN FRANKLIN AND A RISING PEOPLE

A good initiation into the field of biography is this well constructed book with a dual theme- the life of Franklin and its relation to the young country for which many of his ideas originated institutions. The account is complete from Franklin's earliest days, and as his career progresses, there is clear comment on political trends at home and abroad and on the developing American characteristics. A book with breadth- a fine tribute to the remarkable man.
