Englishman Nick Thorne, now established on Majorca with his wife Kate, learns she has been unfaithful during one of his many business absences, takes on a last job, with a fat profit, to insure their return home and finds the way to salvage a grounded cargo blocked by more than one obstacle. Manasco, who has everyone in his pocket, is the prime mover to prevent the cargo from getting from the boat to its delivery point, and his niece, Juana, adds subtler complications when her attempts to wreck Thorne's efforts wake her to love and him to an unfaithfulness similar to Kate's. Working without tugs or lighters, fighting storm and lack of equipment, Thorne's near success is foiled when he is framed for smuggling but he escapes to lock up Manasco and get his trucks over the road and on their way -- only to find Manasco is ready to blow them up.... Thorne still wins -- and more than the fat profit..... Canning's slightly shabby characters do not tarnish their tight adventures.
