TRANSPORT TO SUMMER

Certain signs of revival are shown in the new volume of verse by Wallace Stevens, Transport To Summer, which contains at least one very fine, important, and arresting poem by this well-known writer. It is ""Notes Toward A Supreme Fiction"" -- a highly philosophical, polished and elegant poem. The volume has many other interesting pieces by the frequently obscure, but always brilliant and witty poet. His work -- even in its obscurity -- gives off a marmoreal firmness that is impressive. Stevens has been called the poets' poet here in America. His new volume will be welcomed by all poets and poetry lovers.
