THE LONGEST ROPE
by ‧RELEASE DATE: Sept. 30, 1940
Walker has a rousing yarn to tell for true western fans, of the Johnson County Cattle War in Wyoming in 1892. In crude vernacular of cowpoke, trapper, guide and nester, Walker paints a not too pretty, pretty picture of graft and large scale murder when the cattlemen decided to do away with the ""longest rope"". They proceeded to limit rustling to their own clique, they bought up politicians, hired gunmen, held frequent necktie parties, dry gulchings and killings. Walker, witness to two deaths, and his pal Jones were to bring evidence against the cattlemen. The result? They were shanghailed and hustled East. Hot tale of the open spaces, told to D.F. Baber.
