Rocky McCune is back in his role as coach of the Koulee baseball team, coping again with problems on and off the diamond. When a hotel manager accuses the team first of stealing inconsequential objects and later focuses blame on them for more valuable losses, Rocky is forced to take action. How tension builds among teammates and how Rocky manages to impose discipline on Red Bostic is told against the background of the intensely competitive hard-fought games of the Tournament.
