Rusty Todd, a hot-headed redhead, traces his hockey career as a ten-year-old in Nord, Minnesota, through his college years in Boston and up to the finals of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Having inherited both ""his hair and his temper"" from his father, Rusty has to learn how to keep his cool. It isn't easy, especially after he rejects a big bonus from the Black Hawks and his girl Maureen defects to the club's star player. To make matters worse, the aging veteran known as The Big Stick later becomes his NY Raider coach. The prescribed proportion of ice action and behavioral reaction keeps this on its feet.
