LINCOLN'S RISE TO POWER

Research in the field of Lincoln source material revealed a paucity of material dealing with the election of 1860, and the practical aspects of it. So this entire book deals with the politics before and during 1860, showing Lincoln in his dingy office, doubting whether he ever achieves his ambition of becoming Senator from Illinois. He stresses the turn of chance, the part played by luck and the strategy used to put him over. Appeal to people interested in Lincoln, students of politics, the general reader, for the book is surprisingly good reading.
