A MAN OF HIS OWN

A sure-fire compilation of dog stories, this ranges from southern hunting tales to the Yukon, from mutts to pedigreed hounds, from romance to melodrama, from the frankly sentimental to the humorous and matter-of-fact. With the title story the lead-off- a pup makes up the qualifications for a man of his own, and gets the boy he wants. The stories offer- a hunter talking to his dog in a dream, a little Negro's dog who becomes a hero, an unmanageable dog whose training by a girl wins the man she loves, a coon dog whose master will not accept the reward for catching a criminal, a pup who shows up a boy's first love, the leader of a dog team who is killed to save the mail and his owner's son, a puppy who proves he can point at the expense of marital peace, the agony of unhappiness an Army trained dog knows on his return home, etc., etc. For dog lovers everywhere.
