THE POLYGLOTS: FUTILITY: OF MORTAL LOVE

William Gerhardie who has many enthusiasts from C. P. Snow to Michael Holroyd, who contributes prefaces to each of these three ""revised definitive editions,"" was a perhaps by now little known British writer of the '20's and '30's. Futility, his first novel and purported to be the funniest, deals with Siberia shortly after the October Revolution; The Polyglots appeared initially in 1925 projecting larger themes during a mission to the Far East; Of Mortal Love (1936) is a love story and said to contain the best of this author's writing.
