DEMOCRACY AGAINST UNEMPLOYMENT

A challenging and dramatic book, drawn from a background of years of experience in the U.S. Employment Service and as Dean of the School of Business, Washington University, and an important book as background for post-war planning. Leaders of business, labor and government should find it valuable as a survey of the radical changes that have come in the last two decades. Some will challenge it as a green light towards radicalism, but a close study of the thought behind the thesis will indicate the author's thorough belief in the control of the democratic process by the people. He sees a planned economy and takes away instinctive fear of the phrase. He analyzes causes of unemployment, shows weaknesses of our social legislation, discusses manpower problems during wartime, and urges looking forward to world cooperation.
