ROOKIE BACKSTOP

After years of training, Bruce Jones tries out for the Majors and is accepted as a rookie catcher for the Blues. Living in the shadow of his father's defeat as a ball player, Bruce decides to track down all the evidence which implicated the older man in a baseball scandal many years ago. While giving his all to the team in a series of exhibition game, pieces together the story and sees his father's innocence in its proper perspective. At the same time, he helps the Blues get rid of some undesirable characters and is ready at last for good clean victories. The mixture of mystery and baseball action walers down both elements in this case.
