DEAR BABY

A collection of 20 tales, sketches, fragments -- from the master of the unpredictable -- which shows a tightening and clarification of style, but which still remains a testament to his belief in and love for the little people and their small dramas. Some five Armenian derived, several autobiographically angled, these products of work in progress have some of them appeared in magazines (Nutmeg, Yale Review, Atlantic Monthly, Coller's, Vogue, etc.) -- some are published for the first time. There are, besides a credo of a writer, a lament and paean for life, intimations of mortality, a fairy story of a mouse that steals money, and several that have nameless, impersonal protagonists. The title story tells of a fighter who becomes champion after the death of the girl he loves and is an example of good story telling and characterization. Joins My Name is Aram for its wider appeal.
