Interviews with young descendants of Holocaust survivors in seven countries. The children range from six years old to teen-agers; each interview is introduced with a brief description of the children and their families and is punctuated with crisply reproduced, candid b&w photo portraits. In addition, there is an introduction to each country, describing the situation of its Jews before and after WW II. Sonia Levitin contributes a foreword that puts the subject in historical perspective; Strom (a writer and filmmaker) concludes with an afterword concerning his impressions during his 12 weeks conducting the interviews. The children speak eloquently here, depicting themselves as often isolated and puzzled by their heritage, but placing hope in a suddenly unpredictable future. Timely and resonant.
