ROXANNE, INDUSTRIAL NURSE

Roxanne McCrea, of Swedish-Scotch background, is a nurse at St. Agatha's hospital in New York City when an accident patient Peter Reid, from the Hudson Sugar refinery, brings her into contact with a new job and a mystery. Going over to the refinery to get Reid's watch for him, Roxanne meets the nurse there and soon becomes her assistant. But there is more than work involved for Roxanne soon becomes aware of a whispering campaign against Anthony Polk, Hudson's young and impetuous general manager and then becomes a possible key witness against another jealous executive jockeying for Polk's job. His tactics involve danger to all of the personnel, a thing which Roxanne risks her job to expose and in the process not only prevents a social crime but wins Anthony's love too. More romancing than nursing here, which may detract from the occupation's more intrinsic rewards.
