Another among the many orthodox manuals on how to do better than snapshot photography repeats the basic essentials in a chatty, personalized narrative. Film types and speeds, camera setting, light meters, filters, flash, color, camera types (from box to press) and subjects (from buildings to babies), proper camera care and means of profiting from photography- all are discussed in understandable detail that should make the whys and wherefores as well as the hows quite clear to any interested layman. The information is soft pedaled, so that it won't look as if the reader has too much to learn, and there are some statements that may mislead slightly, but the total effect of the handbook will make better picture takers of the camera public.
