This is the autobiography of Flexner the man, the human dynamo, the educator and organizer, the salesman supreme. Abraham Flexner was the son of an immigrant, brought up in lowly circumstances -- and with grit, determination and ability, he won through to Johns Hopkins and a degree. An interesting aspect of his story is the tribute paid to outstanding men along his way. The Carnegie Foundation, the General Education Board and the Institute for Advanced Study are all evidence of the contribution he has made to education.
