Actually, this should have been reviewed in the Religious Book Supplement, for its market is surely in that field, and even there sharply limited (a) to rabbis and teachers in the Orthodox Jewish faith; (b) to students of comparative religions, who can read it in recognition of its purpose, which is to reinstate the Sabbath in the conception of the Orthodox Jews. While Dr. Heschel does not at any point narrow his argument down to this point (in fact he writes more or less in a vacuum as if it were a Jewish world), his approach assumes the possibility of reinstating the strict observance of the ""Seventh Day"" as a day of rest and worship, entirely apart from the marts of trade. He reviews the spiritual and traditional aspects of its spirit and observance, feeling that some of today's ills are due to the laxity in following out the Mosaic law concerning the Sabbath. Clearly defined market.
