SUFFERANCE IS THE BADGE

A world picture of the tragedy of the Jew, not only in Germany, but in Russia, Rumania, the Balkans, etc. Name a country and there you will find a Jewish story against the social background of that country. The author shows the integral relationship between Jewish and general history, especially since the World War. The picture should be one of black despair but Sachar reveals the courage, faith and dignity of Ancient Israel and its hope for a better world through the triumph of economic democracy. A moving presentation of a minority people whose problem has become a major one throughout the world.
