Terry's island summer, he hopes, will be full of adventure, treasure, and good works. It is, though hardly in the way he expects: an adventure with a flock of angry sea gulls, a treasure in clams, and a real rescue of a stranded fisherman, make up just some of the episodes of this simple, fast-moving narrative which is convincingly illustrated in black and white line drawings. Though there is no departure from reality here, Terry Sets Sail amply conveys the magic a young boy feels when, at the bow of his own little pram, he sees the white sail swell under the force of a tangy salt wind.
