CLAY FINGERS

Laura was the favorite to win the tennis championship, when a sudden accident left her with an injured back and a rule of a year's moderate living imposed- no sports, no driving, no college and a slow re-education of damaged muscles. And then the year of doldrums became the doorway of her future career, as she found herself working in clay, teaching underprivileged children, and coming in touch with lots of harsh reality. Romance, hard work, some success and a bright promise of future joy made life seem exciting and wonderful, and what looked like a ""year out"" proved to be a ""year in"". Career book in a new field.
