We have here an interpretation of the life of the Virgin Mary in accordance with Catholic doctrine. The various episodes related in the New Testament in which Mary figures -- the Annunciation, the Nativity, the Presentation at the Temple, life at Nazareth, the wedding at Cana in Galilee, the Crucifixion and the Resurrection -- are interpreted so as to bring out the special role of Mary as the Mother of God. The closing chapters deal with Mary's death and Assumption and with the exalted place which Mary has come to occupy in the life and ritual of the Church and in the prayers of believers. A simply written interpretation for Catholic readers.
