A Miss Marple story, and not so good -- to my way of thinking -- as the Poirot tales. Miss Marple, village spinster, has a faculty for using village parallels to explain the psychology of major figures in crime puzzles, and she does it again to good effect in a tale of two murders, of planted evidence and twisted alibis, of secret marriages, an inheritance, etc. She plays along until she gets the right person convicted.
