THE GOLDEN SLEEVE

Here's another book which might fit into the same category, for it too could be suggested as a good adventure yarn for boys who want exciting westerns. Quite a departure from her customary vein of historical background adventure, such as Spice and the Devil's Cave. There is no informational side to this, simply a mysterious disappearance, a lost spring, a quarrel over water rights and a lost pocket of gold. The build-up of the story is better than the denouement. But she writes well and the interest is sustained throughout.
