KIRKUS REVIEW

An excellent addition to Dodd, Mead's fine travel series, done with no story setting, no personal travel approach, as was the case with some of the other title in the series. The six Central American republics are presented individually, with but small spce given to historical background, and the emphasis placed on the people, how they live, on festivals, on markets, what they buy and sell, and throughout the pattern of each country individually, geographically, pictorially, through city and country. One chapter retells characteristic folk tales of each country; another presents salient facts about the flags, the costs of rms of each country, the stamps. The final chapter deals with the contribution those countries are making to the war effort.
