LISTEN, RABBIT by Aileen Fisher

Email this review

A very patient, observant and gentle boy watches through the seasons for a wild rabbit first sighted in the fall. His attempts to get close to it through autumn and winter teach him about the behavior of rabbits and the nature of wild things. In the spring, his patience is rewarded with a glimpse and a touch of the rabbit's fur-lined nest with five bunnies curled inside. Told in rhyme in the words of the boy, this is a quiet poem with a full story in it. Mr. Shimin's beautifully drawn illustrations, many in full watercolor, catch exactly the mood established by Miss Fisher.
