Kids Gardening (1972) was confined to indoor plants, so now Paul takes kids outside and shows them how to find and prepare a site, when to plant what (some swear by the moon cycle, though there is ""no scientific proof. . ."") and how, and what routine chores (weeding, staking) should be done. Clearly no organic gardener or environmentalist, Paul offers tips on both organic and chemical pest control, and suggests for those so inclined a ""mini compost pile"" between planted rows, as a full-fledged one should wait ""until you are older."" Meanwhile you can ""have some extra fun in the garden"" by creating a bean tent or flower bed initials. But we'd rather wait for a less frivolous guide--say Burke Davis' Newer and Better Organic Gardening (1976).
