BILL RUSSELL OF THE BOSTON CELTICS

Anyone who follows pro basketball, knows Bill Russell, the 6' 9"" Negro player who is great on defense. They may not know that he has immobilizing stomach ches before each game- the bigger the game, the bigger the stomach ache. Or that he grew up in the shadow of a brother who seemed to be the better athlete. But by the time he went to USF, he was an outstanding player, went on to the Olympics, then the Celtics, at that time the ""bridesmaids of basketball"", a team which, with job Cousy, he led to prominence. Hirschberg then provides a recap of the games and the seasons.... Seasoned sportswriting which pays tribute and keeps the ball in lay.
