KIRKUS REVIEW

Collection of stories centering in the heartstopping moments in World series play -- a Christy Matthewson pitch, a Babe Ruth homer or a Casey Stengel triumph. The author is presently the editor of Sport magazine and has a nice way with the play-by-play descriptions of crucial games. The stories come from pre-WWI all the way through the 1963 moments on the mound with Sandy Koufax. Written with energy and tacked in place with pertinent statistics, it should capture the baseball fans.
